hy update the INEE Minimum Standards?

The INEE Minimum Standards (INEE MS) were last revised in 2010, and the EiE landscape has drastically changed in the past decade. An updated INEE MS needs to incorporate shifted priorities of affected populations, new evidence and changing dynamics in the EiE sector, and evolving linkages to key issues in sectors across the humanitarian and development nexus.

The update process

The INEE intends to produce  updated, accessible, and highly adaptable INEE MS that is useful for EiE activities everywhere.

The process was consultative and involved and has an equity and inclusion approach; INEE has done its utmost to involve the full range of EiE stakeholders, including those without access to online services and technology.

It involved

  • 1,600 + individuals
  • In-person consulations in 17 countries
  • 6 workshops in all INEE languages
  • Multilingual survey of all INEE members
  • Draft feedback from 22 reading groups representing NGOs community worldwide.

Now that the MS are updated,  the launch is planned on 7th of may 2024. This hybrid event will showcase the INEE Minimum Standards, 2024 Edition, and the broad consultative process that informed it. It will foster a space for dynamic and critical discussion around key developments and learning in EiE over the last decade, how these diverse perspectives have been reflected in the updated handbook, and the role of the INEE MS in supporting education stakeholders across the globe in upholding the right to education at all times.
