As leaders from around the world gather in New York for the 79th United Nations General Assembly, GPE is working with partners to ensure education remains high on the agenda.
At the 79th session of the UN General Assembly last week, GPE worked with partners like the African Union, UNESCO, UNICEF and many others, to organize a variety of events featuring education.
GPE was represented in New York by Board Chair Jakaya Kikwete, CEO Laura Frigenti, and GPE youth leaders, who participated in over 50 events, engaged with world leaders and civil society to reiterate this critical message: education cannot be ignored. It must be an investment in our collective future.
In a statement about the Pact for the Future, Laura Frigenti emphasized the urgent need for global cooperation to transform education. She also noted that education is not just about learning, but it’s the foundation for solving global challenges, like poverty, inequality and climate change.
